Regular Plasterboard

Moisture Resistant Board

Moisture resistant board, often identified by its green colour, is designed for areas where humidity and occasional moisture are expected. Bathrooms, kitchens, utility areas and other moisture prone spaces generally require a more suitable board than standard plasterboard.

It is important to remember that moisture resistance does not mean complete waterproofing. Proper installation, ventilation and finishing are still necessary.

Fire Resistant Board

Fire resistant plasterboard is designed to provide improved resistance to fire compared with standard boards. It can be used in areas where enhanced fire protection is required, including selected commercial spaces, partitions, service areas and other applications where fire performance is an important consideration.

Fibre Cement Board

Fibre cement board is stronger and more resistant to moisture than conventional plasterboard. It is commonly considered for wet areas, exterior applications, soffits, cladding and other demanding environments.

Thickness Matters Too

The thickness of a board can affect strength, rigidity, weight and suitability for a particular installation. A ceiling system may require a different specification from a partition wall or external application.

Before buying materials, consider the location, expected moisture level, required strength, ceiling or wall design and the supporting framework.
